Honesty and truthfulness:

Types of honesty:

The individuals honesty can be evaluated by assessing the degree of two types of honesty- moral and conditioned. Moral honesty is a feeling responsibility and and respect that develops during an individual's formative years, this type of honesty is subconscious.

Types of truth:

Acknowledging his proposed classification to be only a didactic truth, the presenter shall describe seven varieties of truth.

1. Physical truth.
2. Historical truth.
3. Narrative truth.
4. Poetic truth.
5. Manufactured truth.
6. Judicial truth.
7. Existential truth.

How to teach truthfulness:

The best way to teach honesty is to be honest. Avoid lying to your child, even about difficult subjects such as illness, death, or divorce. It's better to admit that some things are hard to talk about than to try to cover them up.

Stories of Prophets about trustfulness and honesty:

1. The black stone and trusted judge:

Background:

Before the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) received,the Quraish were rebuilding the Kabah. When it came time to place the black stone (Hajr Al Aswad) in it's position the difference tribes argued over who should have the honor. Tensions grew, and it nearly led to bloodshed.

The solution:

They decided that the next person to enter the Haram would be the judge and that person was Muhammad ibn Abdullah.

When they saw him, they said:

" This is Al-Ameen ! We accept him.

What he did:

He asked for a cloth,  placed the Black stone in the center,and a asked representative from each tribe to hold a corner. He then placed the stone with his own hands - honoring everyone and resolving the conflict peacefully.

Lesson:

His honest and wisdom earned him the trust of the entire community even before prophethood.

2. The trusts left with him after Hijrah:

Background:

Even though the Quraish rejected his message, they still trusted him with their valuable due to his honesty.

What he did:

When the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) was preparing to migrate to Madina,he left Ali ibn Abi Talib behind in Makkah to return the trusts to their owners even though many of them were enemies.

Lesson:

His honesty and duty was so high that he returned the belongings of people who were plotting to kill him.

3. The business deal with Hazrat Khadija (R.A):

Background:

Before the marriage, Hazrat Khadija (R.A) a wealthy businesswoman hired the Prophet to take her trade goods to Syria.

What happened:

Her servant Maysarsh accompanied him and witnessed his exceptional honesty, fair dealing, and truthfulness unlike other traders who often cheated.

Result:

Hazrat Khadija was so impressed by his character that she proposed marriage to him. This led to one of the most important partnerships in Islamic history.

Lesson:

His truthful and honest dealings in business brought blessings , trust, and ultimately a strong support system in his mission. 

How to practice honesty and truthfulness:

• Avoid exaggeration: Stick to what you know to be true.
• Admit mistakes: It shows courage and builds credibility.
