Childhood of the Prophet Muhammad SAW:

The Prophet Muhammad SAW was the son of Hazrat Abdullah and Hazrat Aminah. His father, Abdullah passed away a few days before his birth. He was born in the city of Makkah in Arabia. His forefathers were the chiefs of the tribe of Quraish.
It was customary among the noble families of Quraish that they entrusted their new borns to country women so that they might be brought up in the open and healthy environments. According to this custom, there the mother of the Holy Prophet Muhammad SAW gave him into the care of Hazrat Halima Sadia, a lady belonging to the tribe of Banu Sad.

The Holy Prophet Muhammad SAW spent the first give years of his life with Halima and then she returned him to his mother,Hazrat Aminah. His mother brought him.up with great love and devotion. When he was about six years old, she took him to Madina for a few days. On her last on the way. After this his grandfather Abd Al Mutallib took him into his care.

Hazrat Abd Al Mutallib loved his orphaned grandchild very much and was kind to him. However, he too expired after two years.

Now the Holy Prophet Muhammad SAW began to live with his uncle Hazrat Abu Talib. Fatima, daughter of Asad, who was the wife of Hazrat Abu Talib loved Muhammad SAW as if he were her own son.  Hazrat Abu Talib too was very good to him. When he undertook a journey for the purpose of trade, he took his young nephew along with him.

As Muhammad SAW acquired under the guidance of his uncle, fair knowledge and experience of business, and was well spoken of by persons who happened to come in touch with him, some tedders engaged him as their representative to conduct important business affairs on their behalf. Muhammad SAW si successfully executed these trusts that people were perfectly satisfied with his honesty. The people, therefore respected him very much and used to call him Sadiq and Amin.

From his early childhood he never took part in idolatrous rituals and never told a lie. He had excellent habits and an unimpeachable character.
Honesty and truthfulness command respect and honour.

Muhammad SAW unified Arabia into a single religious polity under Islam. Muslims and Baha is believed he is a messager and prophet of God. The Quran Kareem, the central religious text in Islam, alludes to Muhammad's life. Muhammad's life is traditionally defined into two periods: pre Hijrah ( emigration) in Makkah ( from 570 yo 622 until 632 CE). There are also traditional Muslim biographies of Muhammad SAW which provide additional information about Muhammad is almost Muhammad's life. Muhammad SAW is almost universally considered by Muslims as the last Prophet Muhammad SAW sent by God to mankind. While non- Muslims regard Muhammad SAW as the founder of Islam, Muslims consider him to have restored the unaltered original monotheistic faith of  Hazrat Adam, Hazrat Noah, Hazrat Ibrahim , Moses, Jesus and other prophets.

Childhood:

Muhammad SAW was born around the year 570 CE to the Banu Hashim clan of the Quraish tribe, one of Makkah' s prominent families. His father, Hazrat Abdullah died almost six months before Muhammad SAW was born. According to Islamic tradition, Muhammad SAW was sent to live with a Bedouin family in the desert, as desert life was considered healthier for infants. Muhammad SAW stayed with his foster mother, Hazrat Halimah bint Abi Dhuayb, and her husband until he was two years old. At the age of six, Muhammad SAW lost his biological mother, Hazrat Amina to illness and was raised by his paternal grandfather, Andul Mutallib, until he died when Muhammad SAW eight. He then came under the care of his uncle Abu Talib, the new leader of Banu Hashim.

Adolescence and early Adulthood:

While still in his teens, Muhammad SAW accompanied his uncle on trading journeys to Syria, gaining experience in commercial trade, which was the only career open to him.as an orphan. Little is known of Muhammad SAW during his later youth, available information is fragmented and it is difficult to sperate history from legend. It is known that he became a merchant and " was involved in trade between the indian ocean and the Mediterranean sea". Due to his upright character during this time, he acquired the nickname Al- Amin, meaning " faithful", trustworthy, and "al- Sadiq" meaning "truthful".

Muhammad SAW worked as a trader for Hazrat Khadija Tul Kubra, a widow, until he married her in 595 CE at the age of 25. The marriage lasted for 25 years and was reported to be a happy one. Hazrat Muhammad SAW replied upon Hazrat Khadija Tul Kubra and did not enter into a marriage with another woman during his first marriage. After Hazrat Khadija's death, Khawla bint Hakim suggested that Muhammad SAW that should Marry Sawda bint Zama, a Muslim widow, or Hazrat Aisha , daughter of Um Rynan.and Abu Bakr of Makkah. Hazrat Muhammad SAW is said to have asked for arrangements to Marry both.

According to a text collected by historian ibn Ishaq, Muhammad SAW was involved with a well- known story about setting the black stone in place in the wall of the Kaaba paak in 605 CE. The black stone, a sacred object, had been removed to facilitate renovations to the Kaaba paak. The leaders of Makkah could not agree on which clan should have the honor of setting the black stone back in it's place. They agreed to wait for the next man to come through the gate and ask him to choose. That man was the 35 years old Muhammad SAW, five  years before his first revelation. Be asked for a cloth and put the black stone in it's center. The clan leaders held the corners of the cloth and together Carried the black stone to the right spot; then  Hazrat Muhammad SAW set the stone in place, satisfying all who were present.

Hazrat Muhammad SAW and the black stone. An illustration from c. 1315 depicting Muhammad's role in re-setting the black stone in 605 CE.

Occasionally he would retreat to a cave in the mountains for several Nights of seclusion and prayer, it is reported that it was at this spot that he was visited by Hazrat Jibrael and received his first  revelation from God.

The early years of the Prophet's childhood:

When it comes to the Prophet's physical features, he is described in some books as a man who was moderately tall among his peers, with a white/ reddish complexion. Hus body was will proportioned and he had thick black hair and beard.
There are three narrations giving a very accurate description of the Prophet Muhammad SAW. The guest is that of Hazrat Abdullah Ibn Salmah, a rabbi who has. A lot of information regarding the anticipated last prophet. He decided to go to the Prophet Muhammad SAW to test him with ten questions. On the way he saw the Prophet Muhammad SAW and before asking a single question he said, " This is the Prophet of Allah SWT this face is not th face of a liar".

The second narration is that of Jabir ibn- Abdullah. He was walking in Madina looking at the moon when the Prophet Muhammad SAW appeared from the same direction. While his eyes moved back and forth between the moon and the Prophet's face he finally said, " By Allah SWT, the Prophet Muhammad SAW is more beautiful than the moon in my eyes".

The third is that of a man who came to Abdullah ibn Rawahah, an  Arab poet , who was asked to describe the Prophet Muhammad SAW. He replied, " if you see the prophet Muhammad SAW coming from a distance, you think the sun has just risen". Think of the smile and imagine the Prophet Muhammad SAW walking here among us. Imagine him hugging you on the day of judgement, holding your hand and saying, " You are my neighbour in Jannah."

Abdullah ibn Rawahah description reflects the birth of the Prophet Muhammad SAW. He was born at sunrise on the 12th of the month of Rabi ul awal; Allah SWT chose sunrise to indicate that his birth brought illumination to the whole Earth.

We mentioned earlier that the miracle of Abraha was the last of all miracles. One may wonder about the miracle of the splitting of the moon and Al- Israa and Al - Miraj ( the night journey of Prophet Muhammad SAW) from Makkah to Jerusalem and his ascension to the to the seventh heaven).

Indeed such miracles appeared during the Prophet's life, but they did not change the course of events. They were unlike.

  • The stich of Hazrat Musa AS " Moses".
  • The birds of Abraha.
  • The Ark of Nuh ( AS) " Noah".
The miracles during the Prophet's lifetime were meant either to comfort the prophet or support the believers; but they had no influence on the course of events. For example , the angels descent in the battle of  Badr was a miracle. However, their role was  supplementary. It was the believers' who achieved the victory. If the Prophet Muhammad SAW was aided by miracles, we would not have been able to imitate him. Moreover, the miracle of each prophet ended with his death, except that of our Prophet Muhammad SAW. The Holy Quran Kareem was revealed to him to be the doctrine of mankind. The Prophet Muhammad SAW planned well and worked strenuously within the framework of this doctrine to achieve victory through proper planning. All mankind must follow in his footsteps.

Childhood of Prophet Muhammad SAW:

The people of Quraish were used to handing their newborn babies to Bedouin wet- nurse to be brought up for two years in the healthy atmosphere of the desert. I urge parents to take their children on open air picnics once a week to develop their physical and intellectual abilities. Quraish made a deal with the clan of Banu- Sa'd that the women of the latter should breakfast and raise the children of the former for two years in exchange for a little sum of money. It was also customary for parents to give gifts to the family of the wet nurse.
Wet- nurses , therefore looked for children of rich background. Because Muhammad SAW was an orphan, the wet nurses refused to take him. One wet- nurse called Halimah, failed to find a baby so instead of going home empty handed, she decided to accept Muhammad SAW to be her foster child. This situation was similar to the story of Hazrat Yusuf AS "Joseph". Allah SWT says in his book what can be translated as

" And they bartered him for a paltry price, numbered dirhams; and they esteemed lightly".

Hence we learn that Allah SWT is the omnipotent and the sovereign who humanities or elevates whomever he chooses.

Hazrat Halimah narrated, " I Came to Makkah with other wet nurses seeking a baby to nurse. As Muhammad SAW was an orphan, all wet,- nurses refused to take him, but I accepted him because I did not like to return home without a baby. My husband described him as a calm and blessed boy. As soon as I held Muhammad SAW between my arms he suckled from me even though I had not been able to breastfeed. Shortly after doing this, my son suckled from my other breast".
" My tribe lived in a barren dessert, and our herds used to graze uh the desert but return with stomachs empty of milk. When Muhammad SAW arrived, my herd went out to graze and was the only one among all other herds to come back full of milk from which Muhammad SAW and my son were able to drink. When this happened the other here keepers used to follow my herd to get their share of the blessings. Muhammad SAW brought us prosperity."
The Prophet Muhammad SAW lived with Hazrat Halimah for two years during which she noticed that he grew at a very fast rate. After the two years, he returned to Gus mother. Faithfulness was one of his most obvious characteristics. Fifty five years later and after the conquest of Makkah, Hazrat Halimah came and stood before the Prophet Muhammad SAW smiling. He did not recognize her at first, but once he was told that she was his foster mother, he happily welcomed her calling her " my mother" and treated her kindly and modestly.

Another sign of his extreme faithfulness was manifested after the battle of Hunayn when the Muslims triumphed over the clan of Hawzan and took many booties. The Prophet Muhammad SAW was informed that among the booties were his foster brother's belongings, so he asked his companions to return them. However, some of his companions did not agree. Prophet Muhammad SAW borrowed some money to buy the booties belonging to his brother. He then returned them to him in gratitude to his foster mother.

Orphanage:

Two or three months after his marriage to Amenah Bint- Wahb , Abdullah, the Prophet's father, travelled to Al - Sham on business without knowing of his wife's pregnancy. On his way home, he decided to pass by Madina to visit his uncles. In Madina, he suddenly became terribly ill, died and was buried there. Thus, it was predetermined for the Prophet Muhammad SAW to have roots in Madina and spread his Message there.

Although the Prophet Muhammad SAW was deprived of the affection of affection of a father, he himself was filled with affection and mercy. He used to say to his companions, " I am like a father to you".

Here's another example of his affection. One day, he was sitting at home wearing only his trousers,  when someone knocked on the door. When he knew the knocker was Zaid ibn Harithah, he was so overwhelmed with joy that he forgot to put on his cloak. He hugged Zaid and kept kissing him on his forehead. This makes one wonder, what Zaid did to deserve such love. Nevertheless, Zaid was surely deserving of such affection.

Hazrat Anas narrated that the Prophet Muhammad SAW the women and children coming forward returning from a wedding party. The Prophet Muhammad SAW stood up and said thrice. " By Allah SWT! You are from the most beloved people to me".

The Prophet Muhammad SAW lived until he was six years old with his mother and a maid called Umm- Aimen. His mother decided to take him from Makkah to Madina to visit his father's grave s d get him acquainted with his father's relatives. Such was his mother's faithfulness to his father! After travelling a distance of 500 km, they finally reached his father's grave. That visit was engraved in the prophet's memory forever.
When the Prophet Muhammad SAW immigrated to Madina, every tribe wanted him as their guest. To settle the dispute he told them that his camel will make the choice and that it will kneel down in front of the house he would stay in. The camel stood before the house of his father's uncle's. This is another sign of faithfulness. Surely, the Prophet Muhammad SAW seeing how his mother was faithful to his father he also became faithful to Hazrat Halimah. Parents should set good example to their children by being faithful to their own partents.

On their way from Makkah to Makkah, in an arid area called Al - Abwa, the prophet's mother Hazrat Aminah fell sick and died in front of the Prophet Muhammad SAW. Umm- Aymen had to burry her alone. Imagine a boy of six seeing his beloved mother buried! Prophet Muhammad SAW loved his mother so much, years later when he passed by hua mother's grave on his way to the conquest of Makkah, he stood weeping and weeping, until all the companions present started weeping too. When his mother died he was only six years old but he recalled vividly everything that happened to him.

Why si you think this was happening to Muhammad SAW? Allah paak was showing him the reality of death and life. Allah paak did not want him to be fooled by the very short life on this Planet but rather prepare him to work for his mission. Allah paak was not harsh when he took his parents away from him. In fact Allah SWT loved Prophet Muhammad SAW so much and wanted to prepare him very well to be the leader of mankind. There are people who don't realize the value of life and death before  the age of 30 and only come to realize it upon losing someone close. Indeed there are young people of 20 and 25 years who are only aware of death, however, this is the way Allah SWT chose to prepare the Prophet Muhammad SAW so that the world would not deceive him later on. Look at his status now. Allah SWT says what can be translated as, " and did we not raise fir you your Remembrance?" When Hazrat Muhammad SAW received this ayah he said, * what would I want from this life; I am on this life but a passed by, who sought shelter in the shade of a tree then left it behind and went his own way".

Never be infatuated with Fame or money. Years later when the Prophet Muhammad SAW was considered among the richest people living, a man came to him and asked him for a herd of sheep that covered the space between two mountains, the Prophet Muhammad SAW granted him what he asked for. The man went back to his people and said, " o people convert to Islam! I swear by Allah SWT, Muhammad SAW grants the gifts of someone who does not fear poverty. Thus, Anas said, " when a man coverts to Islam not wanting other than what is in this life, as soon as he enters Islam, it becomes dearer to him  than life and all it's bounties. The Prophet Muhammad SAW that life was faces with the death of his parents; both died far away from their home land; yet such hardships gave him strength and enabled him to lead Muslims.

Another point to consider is that sometimes Allah SWT may do things that may appear to us harmful and painful when JB essence there might be huge benefits them and vice versa. Allah SWT says what be translated as, " and it may be that you hate a thing, while and it is most charitable for you; and it may be that you love a thing while it ja evil for you".

When the Prophet Muhammad SAW reached Makkah Umm Ayman took Muhammad SAW to Abdul Muttalib, grand father, who was about 90 years old. The Prophet Muhammad SAW did not feel comfortable by staying with his grandfather, because his mother was loyal to her husband, and implanted this love in the Prophet's heart for his father's family. In contrast many parents today, keep their children away from their relatives in the future. If you live your children strengthen their bonds with their relatives, for no one knows what the future holds.

Hazrat Abdul Muttalib was not an ordinary man; he was among the leaders of Quraish. He used to hold a meeting daily at al-Kaaba, where he used to lay down his gown on the ground and sit over it. He never allowed anyone else to share it with him, he SAW himself as the leader of his people. The leaders of Quraish used to attend that meeting to discuss politics, news and the economy of Makkah. Hazrat Abdul Muttalib used to take the Prophet Muhammad SAW to these meetings, and he was the only one allowed to sit over his gown too. He thought that the Prophet Muhammad SAW, like the kids of his age would go and play but he (SAW) never did. He preferred to attend those meetings and listen to their talks. When his grandfather noticed that he commented to the gathering, " This son of mien will be a great man!"

The Prophet Muhammad SAW stayed with his grandfather until the age of 8, when he witnessed the sudden death of Hazrat Abdul Muttalib. This rendered him an orphan for the third time. Imagine someone going through all  this,!how would he turn out to be? He could become merciless, or psychologically disturbed. Amazingly, this was not the case with him.

Mercy was demonstrated throughout the prophet's life. When his face was severely injured in the battle I'd Uhud, he refused to ask Allah paak to punish his enemies in spite of his angry companions request, he said that he was sent as a mercy to mankind.  On an earlier occasion an angel was sent to the Prophet Muhammad SAW asking him him whether he wished that two mountain collapse around Makkah on Quraish. The Prophet Muhammad SAW replied by saying that he was sent as a mercy to mankind, then raised his hands to ask Allah paak to forgive his people for they were unaware of the truth.

There was a man known for his ugliness in Madina by the name of zahir, who even the companions disliked dealing with. One day the Prophet Muhammad SAW entered the market place and SAW the companions standing together talking while Zahir was left alone. The Prophet Muhammad SAW moved towards him and Hughes him from the back. Zahir could not believe that there was someone who was actually joking with him so he yelled, " Let go of me" then turned around to find that it was the Prophet Muhammad SAW. The Prophet Muhammad SAW took him by the hand and walked towards the companions joking, " Who would buy buy a servant". Zahir the Prophet Muhammad SAW replied, " I am afraid no one would buy me". So the Prophet Muhammad SAW replied, " On another occasion his servant's young brother Umair had a bird that died one day; the Prophet Muhammad SAW went to his house to give his condolences for the dead bird and used to play with the boy in the street to make him forget the loss of his bird. He always tried to console people. The lack of affection in his childhood made him want to give more to people around him.
Before passing away his grandfather asked his son Abu- Talib to take care of Muhammad SAW after his death. Hazrat Abu Talib was chosen because he was the brother of Hazrat Abdullah, Prophet Muhammad's SAW father, from both the father and mother side. Hazrat Abdul Muttalib considered Muhammad SAW to be his son, for he told Hazrat Abu Talib, " I am leaving you the responsibility of my son".

Notice how Muhammad SAW moved places five times, first he was in his mother's house and then for two years in Hazrat Halimah's house. After that he returned back to his six. The fourth house was his  grandfather's house where he stayed until he was eight years old. Finally he ended up in his uncle's house. Five houses in right years only,! All the houses the Prophet Muhammad SAW lived in were different, still he managed to cope and adapt. His uncle had ten children so not much time was given to Muhammad SAW, therefore he was illiterate. That was to teach him go be self independent, be responsible, be serious, be strong, and yo have a strong will. These experiences helped him throughout his mission later on in life. That's how Allah SWT prepared him. Allah paak sometimes keeps the good away from you to give you better later. What the Prophet Muhammad SAW did not have earlier, he got later.

The strange thing is that throughout these hardship, there was always someone providing him SAWS with affection and passion. Allah paak took from him one source of affection, in order that he learns from the experience, only to give him SAWS another. He took.his mother and gave him SAWS his grandfather and his wife Hala, who was the cousin of Hazrat Aminah, the Prophet's Muhammad SAW mother. Then he took from him his grandfather to give him his uncle Hazrat Abu Talib, who took great care of him. Abu Talib did not join Islam, but always supported the Prophet Muhammad SAW. In addition, Fatima- Binte- Asad, Abu- Talib's wife was also very kind and caring to our Prophet Muhammad SAW. Allah SWT says, " Did he not find you an orphan, so he gave an abode".

If one faces hardships, Allah SWT might have better things in store, especially if one is a youth. Allah SWT loves all his Prophets but he has to prepare them. For instance,

  • Nuh AS "Noah" who was scorn upon by his people.
  • Ibrahim AS "Abraham" who was thrown in the fire.
  • Yaqub AS " Jacob" who went blind from sadness for his son, Yusuf AS "Joseph" who lost his father and was thrown in a well.
  • Musa " Moses" who had to leave his country.
The Prophet Muhammad SAW stayed with Abu Talib for 25 years. He was brought up with ten other children out of whom Aquil became one of his greatest enemies, while Jaffar ibn Abu Talib became one of those closest to him SAWS. Abu Talib was poor, so he did not have much to eat or spend. Later on, when Abu Talib's son Ali became eight years old, the Prophet Muhammad SAW raised him out of gratitude for his uncle.

After 30-50 years , Fatima bint Asad was buried in Al Baqi. She was the mother did Ali, and later the mother in law of Fatima Al- Zahraa. Consequently the Prophet Muhammad SAW took off his gown which was the only one he had, though it was winter and wrapped her with it. Before he placed her in the grave, why? He wanted to bless her grave with Allah's mercy. Hence it's a story full of faithfulness and loyalty, beginning with Hazrat Aminah bint wahb who was loyal to her husband, and Abu Talib who was loyal to his father, and the prophet Muhammad SAW who was loyal to the woman who took good care of him

The Prophet Muhammad SAW decides to work to help his uncle Abu Talib who was poor, in an attempt to relieve his uncle's burden. Therefore Prophet Muhammad SAW worked as a shepherd in exchange for a small amount of money. Why did he SAW choose this particular work? Because from gathering sheep and goats he would learn how to be calm, patient and learn the skill if uniting people. Sheep and goats tend to part from each other. While cows and camels move together as a group. Hence gathering sheep requires special skills.

The Prophet Muhammad SAW as a shepherd From the age of 8 to 15. Then he decided to change his line of work. He wanted to become a trader, so he asked his uncle if he could join him on his trade trip to Syria. He worked as a trader from the age of 15 to 35. From trading, he learned the art of communication, and understood more about peoples, different personalities. The traders are good  at judging people by looking at these eyes.

The Prophet Muhammad SAW learned many skills from his job.,yet there was something missing which. He had to learn. Fighting skills! Well Allah SWT planned for that too. When he was 15 years old a war took place between Quraish and another tribe during the Holy months so they called that war the battle of Fajar . He fought in that war and learned the skill of fighting too. Soon after the war, the two tribes signed a peace called Hilf al- fadul and so he also learnt how to negotiate for peace.

A powerful generation can not be built on thinking that religion is merely going to the mosque neither will it be built on thinking life is for pure entertainment. The Prophet Muhammad SAW was well prepared to rule and guide mankind. He was a trader who was will acquainted with all aspects if life. He also understood war and peace issues.

The blessed childhood of Prophet Muhammad SAW - the young shepherd:

An orphaned boy under divine care:

In the rocky outside Makkah, under the harsh Arabian sun young Prophet Muhammad SAW watched over sheep. Though only eight his life has already been marked by hardship. He was born an orphan his father Hazrat Abdullah passed away before his birth, and his mother Hazrat Aminah died when he was just six. His loving grandfather, Hazrat Abdul Muttalib took over his care and often brought him to sit in the shade of th Kaba paak, earning the affection of Makkah's elders.

A childhood incident: protection from Allah SWT:

One hot afternoon, while tending sheep, Muhammad SAW saw a companion heading to a wedding. Curious, he asked:

" Would you watch my sheep for a  little while? I would like to see the celebration too".

But as he neared the celebration, he felt a sudden wave of exhaustion and fell into a deep sleep nearby. He slept through the entire night and missed the celebration.

When asked what he saw, he replied:

" I saw nothing. Allah SWT protected me from witnessing the idle celebrations".

This was no ordinary sleep- it was divine protection, showing how Allah SWT was already guiding him away from the harmful activities of that time.

Pure character in the days of ignorance:

Even in his early years, Prophet Muhammad SAW was known for staying away from idol worship, lies, and misbehavior. Unlike many other children in Makkah, he was calm, truthful and responsible.

His uncle, Hazrat Abu Talib, who became his guardian after the death of Abdul Muttalib, once said:

" Hazrat Muhammad SAW has never lied, never hurt anyone, and never acted foolishly. There is something special about this boy".

Al- Amin and As- Sadiq: titles earned in childhood:

The people of Makkah observed his behavior. As he grew, they gave him the honorable titles:

  • Al- Amin ( the trustworthy)
  • Al- Sadiq ( the truthful).

Why the childhood of Prophet Muhammad SAW matters:

This story highlights how Allah SWT prepared the Prophet Muhammad SAW for his great mission from a young age:
  • Shielding him from negative influences.
  • Building his moral strength and spiritual purity.
  • Guiding him toward becoming the perfect role model for mankind.

Lessons for today's children from the prophet's early life:

The childhood of Prophet Muhammad SAW is not just a story it is a source of valuable lessons:.
  • Stay truthful and avoid harmful behavior.
  • Trust in Allah's plan and protection.
  • Nurture good character from an early age.
Let us teach our children about the pure beginnings of the Prophet Muhammad SAW so they grow with the values of patience, perseverance and faith.

" Muhammad SAW was born in Makkah, Arabia, on Monday, 12 Rabi up awal. His mother, Aminah was the daughter of wahb ibn Abdu Manaf of the Zahrah family. His father, Hazrat Abdullah was the son of  Hazrat Abdul Muttalib. His genealogy has been traced to the noble house of Ishmael, the son of Prophet are Abraham in about the fortieth descend. Muhammad's father died before his birth."

" He was the most handsome men of medium height, black hair and beard. His teeth shone gleaming white when he smiled.  But it was his character and perfect behavior which made the greatest impression ".

Life of Prophet Muhammad SAW early life:

It was the general custom of the Arabs that their young children were sent to the desert to be brought up with the Bedouins. The tough desert life gave the child a good start in life and the language of the Bedouins was a much purer Arabic. For a few year, they grew up in this harsh but health desert life before returning to their parents.

The Prophet Muhammad SAW was entrusted to Hazrat Halimah Sadia. She was a poor wet nurse. She and her husband only had a donkey and old she - camel. She did not even have enough milk to feed the other child in her care. It was also the year of famine and drought so they would constantly pray for rain.
None of the other Bedouin wet- nurses wanted to take the Bedouins wet nurses wanted to take the child Muhammad because he was an orphan. When a child was returned to the family of the foster child, they would reward the wet nurse generously. They could not expect you gain many riches from a child who was an orphan. Every woman got a child to bring up but Hazrat Halimah, who had arrived last and Did not find a child to foster. She was ready to go back when she decided to return and collect the child Muhammad SAW, even though he was an orphan.

As soon as she lifted Muhammad SAW her fortunes turned right around and her life was filled with immense good fortune. Both Muhammad SAW and the other foster child were fully red, even though the previous night there was no milk for the other child. The old she camel, which has not given a drop of milk, was soon overflowing with milk. Haztay Halimah was at the very back of the group of women but now was at the front of the group. This was indeed a great blessing for this poor Bedouin family. Hazrat Halimah knew that she had a blessed child with all the miracles and blessings she was seeing with her own eyes. Hazrat Halimah's herd of goats used to come home full, and overflowing with milk. The rest of the Bedouins goats used to come home scraggy and empty. They used to complain to the shepherd to take the sheep and goats to the same place that Hazrat Halimah takes her flock! There were many signs about how her life was turned around.

After two years Hazrat Muhammad SAW was returned to his mother Hazrat Aminah, but soon Hazrat Aminah was persuaded by Hazrat Halimah to return the baby back with them for another two years. At this time, Hazrat Halimah told Hazrat Aminah about the great blessings that she had received when Hazrat Muhammad SAW was in care. There was also an illness in Makkah and the child would be protected from it.

A stranger incident took place in the Prophet's childhood. Once both Hazrat Muhammad SAW and his foster brother were playing in the yard with the goats when the Angel Jibrael appeared to them. The Angel came split open Muhammad's chest, took out his heart, removed a blood clot, and washed it in Zamzam. The Angel then returned the heart to Muhammad's body before going away. The Angel said this was the part of Shatan in you.
His foster brother ran to Hazrat Halimah and said that Hazrat Muhammad SAW has been murdered. She rushed out and found Hazrat Muhammad SAW standing with a pale white face. She checked over his body and found that he was fine.

Very shortly, she returned him to Hazrat Aminah, his mother. Hazrat Aminah found out from Hazrat Halimah about the events that had taken place. Hazrat Aminah assured Hazrat Halimah that Muhammad SAW was not under the influence of any devil or Jin but even when she was expecting him she had seen great marvels and miracles. Hazrat Muhammad SAW was returned to the care of his mother Hazrat Aminah and continued to love with her and Barakah.

Before he was six years old hus mother died, and the doubly orphaned Muhammad SAW was put under the charge of his grandfather Abdul Muttalib who took the most tender care of him. But the old chief died two years afterwards. On his deathbed he confided to his sin Hazrat Abu Talib the charge of the little orphan.

When Hazrat Muhammad SAW was twelve years old, he accompanied his uncle Abu Talib on a mercantile journey to Syria, and they proceeded as far as Busra. The journey lasted for some months. It was at Busra that the Christian monk Bahria met Hazrat Muhammad SAW. He is related to have said to Hazrat Abu Talib: Return with this boy and guard him against the hatred of the Jews, for a great career awaits your nephew".

After this journey, the youth of Hazrat Muhammad SAW seems to have been passed uneventfully, but all authorities agree in ascribing to him such correctness of manners and purity of morals and purity of morals as were rare among the people of Makkah. The fair character and the honorable bearing of the unobtrusive youth won the unobtrusive youth won the approbation of the citizens of Makkah, and by common consent, he received the title of " Al Ameen ", the faithful.

In his early years, Hazrat Muhammad SAW was not free from the cares of life. He had to watch the flocks of his uncle, who like the rest of the bani Hashim, had lost the greater part of his wealth.

From youth to manhood he led an almost solitary life. The lawfulness rife among the Makkah, the sudden outbursts of cause less and bloody quarrels among the tribes frequenting the Fajr of okadh( the Arabian Olympia) and the immorality and skepticism of the Quraish, naturally caused feelings of pity and sorrow in the heart of the sensitive youth. Such scenes of social misery and religious degradation were characteristic of a depraved age.

Conclusion:

The childhood of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was marked by simplicity, patience, and early responsibility. Orphaned at a young age, he experienced hardship, humility, and compassion for the poor and vulnerable. These early trials helped shape his strong character, honesty, kindness, and trust in Allah. His upbringing prepared him to become a just, merciful, and wise leader for humanity. The lessons from his childhood continue to inspire people to practice patience, integrity, and empathy in their own lives.
